日本女子大学家政学部被服学科を卒業後、手芸・服飾系の出版社へ。働きながら「東京立体裁断研究所」に通い、立体裁断を学ぶ。その後、編集者歴10年を経て、渡仏。パターンの学校（AICP）へ通う。パリで3年半を経て帰国、2016年「saqui」をスタート。年に2回のコレクションを発表しつづけている。こだわり抜いた素材選びと丸みのある立体的なフォルム、ノーカラーやパッチポケットなど、着る人を美しく見せるSAQUIらしいデザインは、多くの女性から支持を集めている。

Sayoko Kishiyama began her journey into fashion at university, completing a home economics degree in apparel studies, and then pursuing an editing career with a major publisher of lifestyle magazines in central Tokyo, Japan.
In search of a more practical application for her love of apparel, Kishiyama took weekend classes in draping, before leaving her editorship behind and relocating to France to attend The Académie Internationale de Coupe de Paris.
Kishiyama returned to Japan three and a half years later, and started her own brand under the name SAQUI in 2016.
Since then, SAQUI has presented twice-yearly collections to customers in Japan, and in Paris, showcased its autumn-winter 2022 collection with a week-long pop-up event in the Marais district the same year.
With a meticulous approach to choosing fabrics and creating three-dimensional forms with volume, SAQUI employs a breadth of design features from collarless necklines to oversized patch pockets, showing its wearers at their most beautiful, while garnering the support and praise of the Japanese stylist and journalist community.
